Honoring the legacy of Megan Twist: An Athens native and ardent Dawgs fan, Megan’s story took an unexpected turn when she tragically passed away at 23 in a 2016 accident. But her story didn’t end there.

Richard Bremer, on the transplant waiting list for three long years, received a life-changing call: he was getting new lungs. Little did he know, they were Megan’s.

The transplant surgery was grueling, with moments where Bremer essentially flatlined. Yet, amidst the struggle, he felt a profound spiritual connection with Megan.

“I got to meet Megan. She said, ‘It wasn’t my time, I couldn’t stay there,'” he recalled. “She said, ‘She’d be breathing for me, and she came back with me.'”
