We partnered with NYU’s Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR) and our OPO partner, Infinite Legacy, to assess donor families’ grief experiences and to evaluate the impact of our Grief Support Program. 💜💙

Our preliminary research, conducted in partnership with the NYU research team, shows that the available grief support resources to support donor families vary significantly across the nation. This is mainly dependent on the donor families’ insurance, financial means, and ability to access services in a timely matter.

Taylor‘s Gift never wants finances to get in the way of donor families getting the grief support they need, so this is why it’s important to the team to keep our grief support at no cost to the donor family. Ensuring that donor families have a positive donation experience is critical to preserving public trust in organ donation so that life-saving transplants are available for the 100,000 currently waitlisted Americans. Improving the post-donation experience can improve trust in the national transplant system and will directly address the congressionally directed National Academies of Sciences, and Engineering and Medicine recommendations to better meet the needs of grieving organ donor family members.

We are honored to have been chosen by NYU Langone Health to do this important work! 💜💙
