The greatest gift Kerry would like to receive this Christmas is the Gift of Life as Kerry has been waiting for a heart transplant for 18 months. However whilst waiting she is continuing to live a life as best as she can:

“As of May 2025 I have been on the routine list for a heart transplant for 1 year, and to date I have not yet received a call.

It’s mixed emotions waiting for the call as I still like to live my life to the full as I can, but I know that as time goes on I am getting weaker.

I was born in 1975 to young parents, and by the time I was 6 weeks it was clear something was wrong.

After tests and being sent to our closest cardiac centre in Southampton it was found that I had several complex heart defects, tricuspid atresia, transposition of the great arteries and 2 holes.

I waited until I was 5 years old to have a surgery called the fontan (pioneering at the time). My amazing late surgeon Mr Munro carried this out and subsequently performed further surgeries in my childhood aged 9, and then when I was 18.

Since then I carried on a fairly normal life, working, family life, and dogs!

By the time I was in my late 20’s I began the Atrial fib journey ( this is a common side effect of the fontan). Over the years I had many cardiac ablations and have been shocked 5 times with the paddles! Luckily they were planned and I was asleep for all of them.

I have had many different medications but since 2023 my last cardioversion (paddles) and it only lasted 3 months. It was felt further more will be the same, so I have now been in AF for nearly 2 years.
