Spending quality time with loved ones is my #1 priority. However, living in a world with COVID-19 requires me to take proactive steps to create a safer environment for my interactions.
.
Making the community safer starts with proactive advocacy. As someone who is at high risk of severe COVID-19, I prioritise the health of my loved ones as well as my own.
.
Knowing that I am at high risk since having an organ transplant, I chose to educate my friends and family about my vulnerability to severe COVID-19 symptoms. This fosters relationships among community members, promoting understanding and support.
.
I work with my healthcare team to develop a personalised action plan based on my high-risk factors for the infection. I then openly explain this plan to my loved ones, underlining the need to take measures and be aware of symptoms so that everyone is on the same page about what to do if I get the virus. By doing so, I will be ready to communicate with a healthcare specialist and seek information about recommended treatment choices if I contract COVID-19.
.
We can all understand how important it is to protect each other and our health by supporting safety and urging people to take COVID-19 steps and prepare for the virus with a strategy in place.čî┐
