Retired golf pro Bobby Wadkins thought he was heading to another routine check-up — until his kidney function suddenly crashed in early 2022.

A few weeks later, back at the golf club, Bobby was on the phone with his doctor when his friend and coworker Trevor Hedepeth overheard the conversation. Without hesitation, Trevor stepped forward and said the words that changed Bobby’s life:
