Pakistan Achieves Historic First: Female Donor’s Cornea Restores Vision of Two Soldiers

For the first time in Pakistan, a successful corneal transplant using a female donor’s cornea has restored the eyesight of two soldiers.

The donation was made according to the will of the late wife of Major General (R) Zafar Mehdi Askari, and the transplants were performed at the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology (AFIO).

Soldiers Ali Allah (30) and Falak Sher (26), who had lost their vision during counterterrorism operations, have regained their sight following the life-changing procedure.

This historic medical breakthrough not only celebrates the courage and sacrifice of Pakistan’s soldiers but also underscores the profound impact of organ donation in transforming lives.
