In 2023 we shared that Jenna had received her heart transplant earlier on in the year. We catch up with her to see how she is doing :

“I’m in my late thirties, a mam of 2 and received my second heart transplant early in 2023.

I’ll take you back to 2005 where it all began. I was a fit and healthy 21 year old or so I thought.

I noticed myself getting out of breath a lot whilst walking and needing to stop for breaks to catch my breath. Then one day walking home from my friends I collapsed in a lane. I come around got myself home and told my mam what happened.

She took me to the doctors (in the July ) and from there things happened very quickly as I went downhill fast.

I was sent to Heath Hospital in Cardiff where they ran lots of tests which picked up it was my heart causing the issues. They corresponded with Queen Elizabeth Hospital where they asked me to attend in order to run further tests and possibly be assessed for a heart transplant.

After numerous tests a meeting was held to discuss the results. It was then that they told me I had Dilated Cardiomyopathy and my heart was working 5-8%, and I had less than a year to live.

I have never been so scared in my life. I was put on the heart transplant list in November and had the call in January 2006 to say there was a heart for me.

After two weeks I was given a pacemaker,, but the following week week I was sent home to recover with a box of medication.

My recovery was perfect I bounced back to the fit 21 year old I was and returned to work as a Teaching Assistant after just 5 months. I was amazed how quickly I got myself back to my old self.
