“In 2005, I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease… I was shocked to have 11 people volunteer to be my living kidney donor. However, it wasn’t until the 5th volunteer, my niece Roseanne, that we found a match,” shared kidney recipient, Bob Richards.
“In January 2013, Roseanne passed all the tests with flying colors. She was my perfect match. On April 24, 2015, we had the transplants. The next day, we rang the bell in the hospital for successful surgeries!”
“I want to honor and recognize Roseanne for being my living hero. My mission now is to find a way to pay her back for her generosity. This is why my wife and I have developed a fund in her name at MUSC… It is hard to think of a way to repay someone for a gift like this, but I think that recognition is the best way.”
“Education is always the most important. I would like to see progress in reducing the transplant waiting list… Living donations save lives and I am an example of that! I am an organ donor because it is a continuation of giving back.”
Give hope to those waiting and register today as an organ, eye and tissue donor at SharingHopeSC.org #ShareHope #LivingDonation #OrganDonation
