I met with my transplant team and they asked a lot about my medical history and why I am interested in doing this. I shared my story and explained that there feels like a power that is greater than me at play.

If someone asked me to donate my kidney right now, I would say “no”. It doesn’t sit well in my gut, yet when I think about donating my liver, I feel so much peace. From a logical standpoint, I’m kind of wondering what the heck I’m doing – giving up an organ? Going through major abdominal surgery? For a stranger? And yet when I take a deep breath and feel the decision with my heart, feel it in my soul, I have no doubts that I’m supposed to be doing this.
