The Story Of A Heart by Rachel Clarke
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wow this was an absolutely incredible book. Telling the true story of two families on both sides of a heart transplant, the reader follows them from the start of their difficult journeys until the end.

Throughout their journey we hear from all the amazing health professionals who helped treat them as well as learning about the history of the procedure and how it was developed which I found absolutely fascinating.

I thought the author did a great job of telling the story as it happened without trying to change it to be more dramatic or emotional then it already was naturally. The story is written in a way that makes it easy to read, even the more technical parts involving the medical history I found easy to follow.

As you can imagine it is an incredibly emotional book at times but one that is important to read as it helps you understand more about what families and professionals go through in this situation. It was wonderful to see the incredible legacy the families had created from a horrendous situation as the events in this book led to the way organ donations were handled.

This was actually recommended to me by a customer at the bookshop and I’m very glad I read it.
