A whistleblower lawsuit in Dallas alleges that kidneys were withheld from poorer patients at Parkland Health — only to be transplanted later at UT Southwestern, a hospital serving more affluent patients.
Former transplant director Patrek Chase documented 36 cases in one year where this happened. The same doctors who rejected the organs at Parkland approved them at UT Southwestern.
The lawsuit also targets organ procurement groups, raising questions about profit motives in a system where Medicare pays for every kidney transplant nationwide.
If true, these claims expose deep inequities in organ allocation and raise urgent questions about transparency, fairness, and trust in healthcare.
