20 years.

Twenty years since my second chance at life.
And twenty years since another family has lived with the unimaginable loss of their daughter.

Today is not just about me surviving—it’s about Brianna.

Brianna believed deeply in organ donation. Because of her, and because of the courage and selflessness of her parents, Bill and Sue Hutchinson, I was given a life I once couldn’t imagine.

Before my transplant, simply graduating high school felt uncertain. Afterward, I went on to college within a year. I lived on my own. I moved to Florida and worked at Disney World—six months independently, something I never would have dreamed possible before.

But the greatest gifts came later.
Marriage.
Motherhood.
Two beautiful children.
A full, messy, joyful, imperfect life.

If you know me, you know my family and close friends call me Bri. That name has always felt like a quiet connection—one I hold with deep reverence. Brianna’s life didn’t end; it expanded into mine and into so many others.

Even after 20 years, there isn’t a single day I forget where this life came from. I carry gratitude alongside the awareness that my joy exists because another family’s world changed forever.

To Bill and Sue: thank you for loving your daughter so fiercely that you chose to give life in the midst of loss. Thank you for allowing me to share my life with you through the years. My family exists because of your bravery.

And to you, Brianna—thank you for your extraordinary gift. I treasure every moment I’ve been given. I promise to continue honoring you by living fully, loving deeply, and educating others on the importance of organ donation.

Always grateful.
Always remembering.
Always choosing to make this life count. 💚
