❤️ In a historic first for the country, a heart transplant surgery is being conducted at a government general hospital in Kerala.

🩺 Shibu (47) from Chirakkara, Kollam, has donated his heart, two kidneys, two corneas, and skin after suffering brain death due to severe injuries from a vehicle accident.

🇳🇵 The recipient of Shibu’s heart is Durga Kami, a Nepalese woman diagnosed with hyper hereditary cardiomyopathy, a condition that has also claimed the lives of her mother and sister.

🚑 The heart will be transported from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to Ernakulam General Hospital, where the transplant will take place.

🕙 The surgery is scheduled to begin at 10 AM, and the heart will be transported via road to the Thiruvananthapuram airport and then by air ambulance to Kochi.

🌟 This marks not only the first heart transplant in a government general hospital in India but also the first skin donation in Kerala, with the skin being preserved in a skin bank.
